PM believes Russia can raise pensions by CPI in 2017

MOSCOW, Jun 9 (PRIME) – The Russian government supposes that it will be able to adjust pensions to inflation fully in 2017, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said at a meeting on social support on Thursday.

“In general, I presume that there will be a possibility as I said at a social forum in St. Petersburg, to consider adjustment of pensions for inflation next year, or, in other words, to come back to the rules which used to be applied until recently,” Medvedev said.

He also said that the final decision will depend on the economic situation.

Medvedev said that a 4% pension increase scheduled for this year is a temporary measure aimed at preventing high inflation.
